corey cabe - southeastern grocers

Here is what people are saying about Corey:
A UCF Business Graduate, Corey joined the AP Operations (remote video monitoring) center midway in FY23. By early FY24, he became the departments top investigator when in less than 3 months he investigated (remotely) and retained evidence from 99 customer accidents and submitted 26 of them to Risk Management with recommendations to deny any claim if the customer retained an attorney and filed a lawsuit. This, due to those accidents being fraud, that should be subrogated back to third party vendor, or where the customer was at fault due to having a medical condition. It is estimated that in those three months, this prevented claim losses of over $250K If that was not enough, at the same time SEG launched a new ecommerce program and within 3 months, ecommerce fraud losses were rising at an alarming rate.

Corey took interest in how the strategy to mitigate these losses was being developed so in addition to investigating accidents, asked if he could learn about digital fraud and help in that area also. In less than three months he had learned how to use our short-term digital fraud solution (rules-based software), while our long-term Ai software solution was being integrated with our payment card system. Within weeks, Corey was off, and describing what he said was “playing chess” with fraudsters as he followed their digital footprint, blocking their transactions. Within three months he was also working with our Ai third party solution provider to test our long-term digital fraud software solution. And within months he was able to reduce losses from a high of $215K per month, to less than $25K. And when the new Ai solution was implemented six months later, drove losses from $25K per month to approximately $5 for a savings of $1.6M in FY24 when compared to FY23.

Due to his effort our losses have dropped from 11.5% to .50% percent to sales. Rarely has this writer seen one person excel so fast and contribute so much in such a short amount of time. Its for this reason that he is being nominated!
  • Only in AP for a little over two years.
  • Smart, techno savvy, workaholic, and a rock star. An introvert who would generally go un-noticed but just can’t ignore his contribution, financially.
  • Describes working in digital fraud as a chess match - between him and the fraudsters.
  • We need more young men and women out of college like him. They are sponges and smart.
  • Business majors, engineering major's rule and go to the top!

haile kasiner - harpS food

Here is what people are saying about Haile:
Meet Haile Kasiner, Harps Food’s Champion of Loss Prevention! Since joining Harps in 2021, Haile Kasiner has been a driving force in loss prevention. She quickly climbed the ranks, earning early promotions to Closing Manager, Cash Office Manager, and Loss Prevention Specialist. Her ability to spot red flags and dig deep into data has been a game-changer. By developing transactional reports to track internal theft and losses, Haile uncovered over $300,000 in losses and successfully recovered over $25,000 through 50 internal interviews. Haile doesn’t just do her job—she works to be the best at it.

She’s completed Reid and Wicklander Interview Training, sharpening her investigative skills to conduct more effective interviews and recover losses faster. Her expertise in Agilence, a powerful data analytics tool, has helped multiple departments pinpoint vulnerabilities and prevent further loss. She’s not afraid to tackle tough situations, whether interviewing juveniles and their parents, coaching managers on training gaps, or breaking down case reports.

She handles every challenge with confidence and professionalism, making her an invaluable resource to the team. One major example? Haile discovered that cashiers had permission to void items under a certain amount without approval, which led to severe losses. She uncovered a case where a single cashier was sweethearting family and friends, costing one store $48,000. Instead of stopping at the discovery, she implemented a new alert system that set a precedent company-wide, saving Harps an unknown but significant amount in potential future losses. Haile is relentless when it comes to protecting company assets. Her attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and proactive approach have made a huge financial impact on Harps.

That’s why she is the perfect candidate for the 2025 FMI LP Rising Star Award!
